Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 · Effective date: 9 September 2026
TailorBoss ("TailorBoss", "we", "us", "our") is a business management application for boutiques and tailoring shops, operated from Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. It applies to our website (tailorboss.com), the web application (app.tailorboss.com), and the TailorBoss Android application (together, the "Service"). The Service is offered to businesses in India, and this policy is written with reference to Indian law.
By creating an account or using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy. This policy is published in accordance with applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made under it, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act").
1. Our two roles with data
- Data we collect about you (the account holder). For your registration and billing information, we decide how and why it is processed — for example, to run your subscription.
- Data you enter about your business. For the records you create in TailorBoss — your customers, their measurements, your employees, payroll, orders, and similar — we act on your instructions and process this information only to provide the Service to you. You remain responsible for this data and for collecting it lawfully from the people it concerns.
2. Information we collect
- Account and registration data: name, mobile number, email address, shop name and address, GSTIN, subscription plan, and login credentials (passwords are stored in hashed form and are never visible to us).
- Business records you enter: customers and contact details, body measurements, appointments, quotations, orders, invoices and payments, suppliers, purchase bills and expenses, stock and catalogue items, employees and their employment details, attendance and leave, salary and advance records, piece-work (karigar) khata entries, and related notes.
- Media: reference photos and voice notes you attach to orders, workshop jobs, products, or piece-work entries.
- Payment data: subscription payments are handled by regulated payment providers. We receive confirmation of payment (amount, date, reference) but do not collect or store your card, UPI, or bank credentials on our servers.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, device and browser information, app version, log records, and error diagnostics, collected automatically to keep the Service secure and working.
- Support communication: messages you send us by email, phone, or WhatsApp, kept so we can help you and keep a record of the request.
3. Cookies and local storage
Our website uses only essential cookies or none at all; we do not run third-party advertising or tracking cookies. The web and Android applications store login tokens and settings on your device so you stay signed in; clearing app data or logging out removes them.
4. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including generating your invoices, payslips, reports, and PDFs.
- To create and manage your account, verify you at login (including one-time passwords), and enforce your plan's limits.
- To process billing, send renewal reminders, and maintain payment records.
- To respond to support requests and communicate service matters such as maintenance or important changes.
- To monitor, secure, debug, and improve the Service, including analysing errors and usage at an aggregate level.
- To comply with law, including tax and accounting record obligations, and to establish or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not show third-party advertisements in the Service.
Photos and voice notes you upload — including customer reference photos and design images — are processed solely to provide the Service to you, and are never used to train public or third-party AI models. We also do not use personal data for automated profiling, credit scoring, or automated legal evaluation of any individual.
5. Sharing and processors
We share information only as needed to run the Service, with:
- Infrastructure providers — cloud hosting, database, and file-storage providers on which the Service runs;
- Payment providers — to process subscription payments;
- Communication channels — for example, when you contact us on WhatsApp, that communication is also subject to WhatsApp's own terms and policy;
- Authorities — where disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of TailorBoss or others.
These providers may store data on servers located outside India. We choose reputable providers and share only what is necessary, and such transfers are made in accordance with applicable Indian law.
6. Security
We use reasonable security practices appropriate to the nature of the data, including encryption of data in transit, hashed passwords, strict separation of each shop's data from every other shop's, role- and permission-based access inside the app controlled by the shop owner, and restricted internal access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the authorities as required by law.
7. Retention
- We keep your data while your account is active so the Service can work.
- You can export key records (such as your customer list, invoices, and reports) at any time while your account is active, and for 30 days after termination on request.
- If you close your account and request deletion, we will delete your data, except records we must keep under law — for example, billing and tax records, which must be retained for the periods required by Indian GST and accounting laws — and limited logs kept for security. Data we retain remains protected by this policy and is deleted when the legal retention period ends.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, including the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- access a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete data (most account and business data can be corrected directly in the app);
- request erasure of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements;
- withdraw consent, which may mean we can no longer provide the Service to you;
- nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf as provided by the DPDP Act; and
- raise a grievance and have it addressed (see below).
People whose information you have entered into TailorBoss (your customers or employees) should direct requests to you as the business that collected their data; we will assist you in fulfilling them.
9. Grievance redressal
If you have any complaint about how your data is handled, write to support@tailorboss.com with the subject line "Grievance". We will acknowledge and respond within the timelines required by applicable law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India as provided under the DPDP Act.
10. Children
TailorBoss is a business tool for adults. It is not directed at, and may not be used by, persons under 18 years of age.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this page with its effective date. For significant changes we will notify you in the app or by message before they take effect.
